A Visit with The Revolution

by tatiana on August 21, 2010

Refusing to let the HAND of the MAN hold them down.

Traci and Patrick made a stop in San Francisco and stayed at Casa Barker/Jimenez last night. It was really really great to see them. They’ve embarked on a journey from Orange County to Portland. I know, I’m jealous too. But we can live vicariously through them via the blog.

Kate and Jesse were also here and it was a lovely evening full of vegan-friendly dinner (fried gnocchi with amazing sauce) and chats about the food industry, our mutual loves of all things knit/crochet, and craft fairs. Big big plans always occur when I’m around my like-minded crafty people.

Miss New Bootie(s)

by tatiana on August 9, 2010

This weekend I was feeling the crochet itch, so I decided to work on a new product for the shop. I went with these cute booties. I worked on two prototypes before I perfected it, and voila, here we are. [click to continue…]

SF Renegade Craft Fair: This is my Comic-Con

by tatiana on August 1, 2010

Last week, hundreds of thousands of comic book geeks traveled far and wide to Comic-Con to meet their respective idols. This past weekend hundreds of craft and DIY geeks traveled far and wide (or maybe like 2 miles if you’re me) to SF Renegade Craft Fair to meet some of the best crafters and artists in the DIY scene.

Craftgasm, or: Renegade Craft Fair

by tatiana on July 14, 2010

Oh yes… OH YES! It’s happening. It’s free. It’s at Fort Mason in San Francisco. Hopefully the weather will be a lot nicer than the last time Renegade was in town. And hopefully I’ll see more of my favorite crafty people IN THE FLESH! The crafting world has its share of celebs as well – “you better believe it” – as my Dad likes to say.

Anyway, we’re two weeks away! I have a lot of friend/family birthdays coming up. I can’t wait to see what I can find.

Knitting with Kate

by tatiana on April 27, 2010

Oh, so many things to write about on this somewhat quiet Tuesday evening, but in efforts of trying to update this blog a little more, I’ll break it up into two entries… second half to come tomorrow! But for now, I met up with my good friend and fellow knit-enthusiast Kate earlier to catch up and also so I could absorb some of her knitting wisdom. [click to continue…]

I Heart Yarn

by tatiana on April 21, 2010

Oh my goodness. Hats, hats and more hats are being created from my overflowing basket of yarn these days than in past years. I have Ravelry to thank for that, as lately I’ve become inspired by the plethora of quality patterns available there for affordable prices. I really, really recommend that everyone support independent knit and crochet pattern makers by purchasing your patterns on Ravelry or Etsy instead of seeking out free patterns. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love free patterns, but it’s really important for the DIY movement (and the REVOLUTION) to support our community of crafters, artists and creative thinkers. OK! Having said that, I just wanted to share what I have been working on. Nothing too too crazy or exciting, just new. Here we go! [click to continue…]

Goals, Aspirations & Dreams for 2010

1. I stumbled upon this “remix” of this British WWII poster today while searching for something totally unrelated and I sat and stared at it for a while. I love this. It isn’t so much a goal, but very good things to keep in mind. Don’t stress out. Life’s way too short. And also, never stop getting excited to create, whether it’s a hat, a tool shed in your backyard, or simply jotting down your thoughts in a journal. [click to continue…]

What’s Goin On: December 2009

by tatiana on December 9, 2009

Ahhhh, tis the season for “gaudy decorations” as my friend Bri mentioned last week when we were decorating her house. Also, tis the season for busy schedules made even busier by cool things going on around town. Here are a few things to pencil into your day-planner. (Does anyone use those anymore?)

Not Your Granny’s Craft Fair!

by tatiana on December 7, 2009

I don’t think I can adequately express how excited I am about Bazaar Bizarre. I’ve been dying to go for YEARS, and finally, the stars have lined up and I will be able to be surrounded by handmade goodness and the awesome people who make it all happen.

I know it’s a little difficult to buy exclusively handmade items during the holidays… but it’s good to try! This is where Bazaar Bizarre comes in handy. Support those who are trying to create goods in ethical and sustainable ways. Also, handmade gifts are extra special because they’re often one-of-a-kind… and they’re made with love. “It’s all for love. L-O-V-E.” – Michael Jackson (Did anyone else see This Is It?)

Here’s the info:

What: Over 120 Vendors, Free Craft Workshops, Food, Music <– I love all of those things.
