Today I stumbled upon this post, by a fellow designer/blogger gal whose blog I enjoy, and I thought I’d join in on the fun. Also because this type of post totally takes me back to my Livejournal days. (You know you miss Livejournal too!) (And I’m obviously looking at you, Cathy.)
Anyway, here we go!
1.) I started watching Friends for the first time.
We weren’t really allowed to watch it when it first aired (I think I was about 9 at the time), and as I got older I never really felt a need to watch it since I had no clue what the big deal was about Ross and Rachel. I caught a re-run here and there, but never really watched the show from start to finish. So last year, after not getting many a Friends reference and being generally curious, I decided to marathon it, thanks to my friend Jenna and her DVDs. I’m currently on Season 6. AND I AM SUCKED IN.
2.) I am a Green.
This year I was given the opportunity to attend Western CUNA Management School, and while I was there I learned A LOT. One of the most fun and introspective things I learned was that, according to the Strength Deployment Inventory (SDI) tool I am a Green. This basically means that I thrive when I’m working in situations where I don’t have to rely too heavily on others, and am very data and deadline driven. I’m also slightly Blue, which means that I combine feelings with reason (kind of how graphic design works, actually). Sounds about right!
3.) I played on my high school’s golf team.
Whenever I share this fact with people, they usually look pretty surprised. I’m not sure why. I played tennis in high school was well, so it’s not like I’m totally un-athletic, but maybe it just doesn’t seem like something I would do. I do miss golf and sort of want to start playing again. [Enter statement about whacking balls here.]
4.) Orange is the New Black gave me stress dreams.
Season 1 of OITNB was amazing. I’d watch it again from start to finish. But it unfortunately freaked my brain out and I had stress dreams the first 3 nights I watched the show. My dreams basically consisted of me being in prison and wanting not to be.
5.) I played a Facebook game and got stuff for free.
For the last 4 months, while watching TV or movies, I’ve passively played this Facebook game called myVEGAS. In anticipation of my friend’s wedding in Vegas (which is next week), I accumulated a bunch of points and was able to redeem them for 2-nights of hotel accommodations, a ticket to The Beatles LOVE Cirque du Soleil show and I’m currently working on getting a free buffet. Before myVEGAS, I’d never played a Facebook game, and had judged those who played them. So, if you’re judging me, I totally understand, but I also don’t care! [Laughs all the way to the casino.] [Probably ends up spending too much money at said casino.]
